Toronto’s population is declining. Stats Canada says from July 2019 to July 2020, Toronto lost 50,375 people – that means 50,375 more people left the Toronto area than moved in – a record high according to data going back almost two decades. Surrounding cities like Oshawa experienced population growth of 2.1% and Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo rose by 2%.
